War and Order Formations: BOX, Elite War and Anubis Troop Split
How the War and Order troop split works for BOX, Elite War and Anubis: fixed 500-troop fillers, rounded percentages and examples at 350,000 March Size.
Updated: November 2, 2026
The short answer
In BOX, Elite War and Anubis, the small filler groups stay at 500 troops at any March Size. The largest frontline group takes a percentage rounded up to a whole number, and the largest backline group takes whatever is left. At a March Size of 350,000 with Even Cav / Mages, that gives 140,000 cavalry and 206,500 mages in BOX, and 129,500 cavalry and 217,000 mages in Anubis.
Elite War Core adds a third main group, because Angels keep their own share. That gives 140,000 cavalry, 89,235 Angels and 117,765 mages. These are the splits used by the WaoHive Formations tool. Other events scale differently, as explained below.
The rule, step by step
The templates are written for a march of about 350,000 troops. The tool converts them to your March Size like this:
- Any group listed at 5,000 troops or fewer in the template is a filler, and it is set to exactly 500. A group listed at 0 stays empty.
- The largest frontline group takes its template share, rounded up to a whole percent, of your March Size.
- The largest backline group gets the remainder, so the total always equals your March Size exactly.
- In Elite War Core, Angels keep their template share of your March Size, rounded down.
- In Elite War Flank, the backline is only filler, so the remainder goes to Angels.
BOX at 350,000: Even Cav / Mages
The BOX template lists 140,000 cavalry out of 350,700 in total, which is 39.92%. Rounded up, that is 40%, or 140,000 of your 350,000. Seven fillers at 500 take 3,500, and the mages get the remaining 206,500.
| Group | Tier | Rule | Troops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Even Cavalry | T12 | 39.92% rounded up | 140,000 |
| Even Mages | T12 | The remainder | 206,500 |
| 7 filler groups | T12 and T13 | Fixed at 500 each | 3,500 |
Elite War at 350,000: Core - Even Cav / Mages
The Core template totals 353,000, so cavalry at 140,000 is 39.66%, rounded up to 40%. Angels are 90,000 of 353,000, or 25.50%, which comes to 89,235. Six fillers take 3,000, and the mages get the rest. Note that Angel is a main group here, not a filler, which is why there is one fewer filler than in BOX.
| Group | Tier | Rule | Troops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Even Cavalry | T12 | 39.66% rounded up | 140,000 |
| Angel | T12 | 25.50% of March Size | 89,235 |
| Even Mages | T12 | The remainder | 117,765 |
| 6 filler groups | T12 and T13 | Fixed at 500 each | 3,000 |
Anubis at 350,000: Even Cav / Mages
The Anubis template totals 353,500, with 130,000 cavalry. That is 36.78%, rounded up to 37%, or 129,500 troops. Even rounded up, that is slightly below the template's 130,000, because your March Size is smaller than its total. Seven fillers take 3,500, including 500 Angels, and the mages get 217,000.
| Group | Tier | Rule | Troops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Even Cavalry | T12 | 36.78% rounded up | 129,500 |
| Even Mages | T12 | The remainder | 217,000 |
| 7 filler groups | T12 and T13 | Fixed at 500 each | 3,500 |
What changes at other March Sizes
Because fillers do not scale, all of a larger march goes into the main groups. BOX Even Cav / Mages at 500,000 is 200,000 cavalry, 296,500 mages and the same seven groups of 500. The backline also takes up the slack from rounding, so it is the group that shifts when the percentage rounds up.
Odd and Archer versions follow the same rule with different groups. In these templates, Even groups are T12 and Odd groups are T13. Some templates also leave a group empty. BOX Odd Inf / Archers has no Odd Mages, so it has six fillers rather than seven and gives 207,000 archers at 350,000. Anubis Even Cav / Archers has only five fillers, and gives 218,000 archers.
At a very small March Size, the percentage and fillers can use up everything, leaving nothing for the backline. The tool then warns you and splits all groups by ratio instead.
Elite War Flank is a special case
Flank templates total only 231,000 to 235,000, so the tool warns that they are not built for a full march. Flank - Odd Cavalry at 350,000 gives the following. Both the Flank remainder rule and the Core Angel share are assumptions we have not confirmed in the game, so check them against your alliance's plan.
| Group | Tier | Rule | Troops |
|---|---|---|---|
| Odd Cavalry | T13 | 60.61% rounded up | 213,500 |
| Angel | T12 | The remainder | 135,000 |
| 3 filler groups | T12 and T13 | Fixed at 500 each | 1,500 |
The other events, and using the tool
Fiend Trial, SOS, Speed Attack, Star Ruins and Undead simply scale each group by its share of the template, with leftovers from rounding spread so the total still matches. Speed Attack templates are also partial, and the tool warns about them.
To use it, pick the event and the formation, then enter your March Size from the march screen in the game. The tool shows the lineup and the count and tier for each group. It tells you how to fill a formation, but it does not rank them, so which formation suits a matchup is still your call. Your last choice saves in your browser, and a Share button copies a link for your alliance. To see how long the troops take to train, use the Speedups calculator.
